On the three week anniversary of Atul’s death, his family said: “We’re desperate to find out who would do this to such a lovely, caring, family man.

“Atul ran a shop in Stopsley for many years and was well known and liked by many members of the community.

“Someone, somewhere, must have the answers to what happened to lead to his death, and we’re asking anyone who could help to come forward.”

Six people have been arrested on suspicion of murder. All of them have been bailed pending further enquiries.

Detective Inspector Justine Jenkins, senior investigating officer for the case, said: “We’re continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to Atul’s tragic death and we’re urging people to cast their minds back if they were in the area at the time, to see if they can remember anything out of the ordinary. “There may be people who haven’t yet contacted the police because they have assumed that others will have given us the information we need or that we already know all there is, but this isn’t the case so I really would encourage anyone with even the slightest bit of information to get in touch.

“We’re determined to get to the bottom of this heinous crime and ensure that justice is done.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the MCU on 101, quoting Op Livingston, or Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111
