Police staff job fears over plans for outsourcing

MORE than 1,000 police staff jobs across Beds, Herts and Cambridgeshire would be affected by plans to outsource some services.

Later this month the three forces will put proposals to use private companies for human resources, finance and IT to their respective police authorities.

The forces have already collaborated on a number of departments to cut costs.

Bedfordshire Police needs to save £5.5million in the current financial year and says outsourcing would happen in April 2013 at the earliest.
