Free one-day workshops are being offered to members of the public to help them understand their rights when being stopped and searched.
The first is at Luton’s Icon Hotel on January 28.
The programme has been designed by MF Youth Consultants in partnership with Bedfordshire Police.
MFYC director Montell Neufville said: “The training has been produced to take account of new Home Office guidelines.
“It’s important that residents are clear on their rights when being stopped and searched.
“It is probably the most controversial of all policing powers because it not only impacts on individuals but also has a major effect in undermining confidence in the police if not used correctly and fairly.”
Welcoming the new guidelines, Superintendent Rob McCaffray said: “Stop and Search is an important power for us.
“The workshops will help those who want to know more about their rights and responsibilities understand how they should be used.”
