Warning after three children followed to Cardinal Newman School by two men and woman

The incident happened yesterday morning (Tuesday) as the trio travelled to Cardinal Newman Catholic School.
In a message to parents, deputy headteacher Dan Martin said: "The safety and security of all pupils at Cardinal Newman School is of the utmost importance and therefore we endeavour to keep everyone informed of any incidents.

Hide Ad"On Tuesday morning at 8am, three of our year 7 students were followed for five minutes on their way to school by three adults - two males and one female.
"The students phoned a parent, went to a place of safety and reported the incident on arrival at school. The school reacted quickly to ensure pupils received support and were picked up in the afternoon.
"The police are currently investigating the incident and will be in contact with the school if any further action is required.
"In light of the incident, we remind all pupils to report anything suspicious to parents, the school, and the police, call 101 to report an incident to the police."

Hide AdThe school has recommended the following strategies for children to keep safe when travelling to school:
> Travel or walk to school with friends wherever possible;
> Walk on the right hand side of the pavement in order to face oncoming traffic;
> Where possible, leave space between themselves and the road;
> Stay in areas that are well-lit;
> Avoid secluded areas that are hidden from view;

Hide Ad> Be alert, earphones and headphones can reduce awareness considerably;
> If a passing vehicle stops nearby, never get too close;
> Always report suspicious behaviour to parents, the school and the police, noting number plates of vehicles, clothing and any distinguishing features.
Bedfordshire Police has been contacted about the incident.
