Demand for coach drivers in Luton for summer season

More than 50 jobs are being created in Luton as the arrival of peak holiday season creates demand for coach drivers.

Specialist driver recruitment firm Driving Force is hiring 50 experienced coach drivers to ferry holidaymakers between their homes and airports.

The six-month assignments will be based in and around Luton which the company hopes will give the local economy a welcome boost.

Daniella Roberts, manager of Driving Force’s Hatfield branch said: “This year we’re witnessing unprecedented demand for qualified, experienced coach drivers.

“As well as the need for airport transfers, this trend may well be linked to the resurgence of the traditional British coach holiday and the rise of the ‘staycation’.

“Recent figures show that around 36,000 people receive jobseeker’s allowance across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire. Therefore any news of jobs being created should be strongly welcomed.”

The recruitment drive coincides with the traditional peak summer season that will see thousands of Brits jet off to enjoy a sunshine break.
