Dunstable musician on mentor’s show
DUNSTABLE musician Joe Enright shared his passion for the piano accordion with more than 250,000 BBC Radio 6 listeners last week.
He was appearing on the Sunday morning show hosted by Catatonia star and The Voice mentor Cerys Matthews, whose husband and manager Steve Abbott is an old friend of the Von Trapps and Whiskey Before Breakfast band member.
Joe, 44, said: “We chatted about the history of the instrument. I’m from an Irish background and started playing when I was about six or seven.
“It just clicked for me but sadly it’s in decline now.”
Joe recently joined Cerys for her ‘Over Land and Sea’ tour.
She and Steve, a big Hatters fan, often drop in at Alfie’s Bar in Wellington Street.
