Parents are warned to stay alert after a child from Dunstable was diagnosed with swine flu.
The child - a pupil at Watling Lower School - is currently being treated at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Sue Penglase, headteacher at Watling Lower School, said: “I can confirm that one of our pupils has swine flu and we have been supporting their family.
“We sent out a letter to all parents and carers yesterday advising of the symptoms and the best ways of protecting yourself and others against swine flu.
“This includes encouraging children to use and dispose of tissues carefully and washing their hands thoroughly – which is something that we already do at the school.
“We will continue to support the pupil and their family and will update all parents and carers if there are any developments.”
