‘Inadequate’ Sundon Park Junior School gains Ofsted praise

In March the schools watchdog issued its grave concerns over Sundon Park Junior School, Kinross Crescent, after significant shortcomings were found with the school’s level of teaching, leadership and pupils’ achievement.

A report of Ofsted’s inspection read: “There is too much weak teaching.

“As a result, almost all groups of pupils are not achieving as well as they should.

“Leadership and management are inadequate because leaders, including governors, have not taken effective steps to bring about improvements since the last inspection.”

Following a monitoring inspection last month Ofsted has said that “the academic year is starting well” and that Sundon Junior School is now “taking effective action towards the removal of special measures”.
