Farley Hill pupils create a poppy field

Farley Junior School held an assembly about Remembrance Day.

One of their teachers read the poem ‘On Flanders Field’ and told the children how the tradition of wearing poppies began.

To commemorate this special anniversary, 100 years since the end of World War One, Ms Mustardé created a poppy for every child and adult in school to ‘plant’ their own poppy field at the far end of the playground.

A school spokesman said: “The children responded wonderfully to this lovely idea and the result was a very special display of red poppies.”
