Football match helps refugees

A group of friends are organising an event in Luton to raise awareness and funds for the refugees in Calais.

A 12-hour, 5-a-side football match is open to all and will be held on Saturday, May 28, from 10am Chaul End Field, Dunstable Road, Luton, LU4 8QN. The Play For Calais day will also feature family activities.

One of the organisers said: “We are asking everyone no matter of the age, sex or religion to get involved and the feedback we have received in such a short time has been exceptional. We are talking to local businesses to sponsor the event which is another way of generating donations.

The end goal is to raise money so we can then purchase food packs and then deliver these to the camp in Calais.”
