Fruity fun for Ferrars

TASTY treats were on offer for pupils at Luton’s Ferrars Junior when staff from Sainsbury’s in Dunstable visited the school.

Elaine Wilson and Joni Clarke, who both work at the Luton Road superstore, went to the Lewsey Road school to show the youngsters some fruity fun.

The pair went into the classroom to give a talk about the benefits of healthy eating, as well as the importance of including five-a-day of fruit and vegetables in your diet.

They also showed the 90 Year 3 children what healthy alternatives were available to high calorie treats or sugary snacks.

Little learners also took part in a sampling session in which the Sainsbury’s staff tempted their tastebuds with pineapple, fruit smoothies, natural yoghurt, oranges and kiwis.

Elaine said: “It was an enjoyable morning.

“We talked to three classes and they all tasted various healthy snacks.

“The children also had the opportunity to ask questions.”
