Gala dinner raises £5,000 for Luton charity Stepping Stones which helps women in crisis

A gala dinner has raised more than £5,000 for Luton charity Stepping Stones which helps women in Bedfordshire through crisis situations.

Chairman Margaret Simons said: “A third of the women we support have backgrounds in domestic abuse or addictions and many also have a mental illness. A proportion need help after being released from prison.”

Patron Gavin Shuker MP said: “It’s impossible to over-emphasise the desperate situation of many women in our society today and the fantastic help and emotional support offered by Stepping Stones.”
