Gang rob teenager in Luton

Police are appealing for information after a teenager was robbed by a gang in Luton.

The robbery took place at around 8pm on Tuesday, September 6 as a teenage boy was walking along Manchester Street.

He was called over to a group sat on a bench. However, once he approached them they threatened him and searched his pockets. The gang stole his mobile phone before telling him to leave.

One of the offenders is described as a black man, around 26 years old, 5’8”, with black afro hair. He was wearing a blue and white shirt, grey jeans and black Nike trainers, and was carrying a blue Nike shoulder bag.

Three youths were with the man. One boy is described as around 17, black, with black afro hair, around 5’5” and slim. He was wearing a dark blue hoody with the hood up covering his face, black jeans and black shoes.

A further boy, also aged around 17, is described as black, with black afro hair, around six feet tall, of medium build and with large hands. He was wearing a black t-shirt, green jeans and black shoes.

A girl, aged around 16 years old, is described as having shoulder length blond hair, around 5’8”, slim and wearing a white top, light blue jeans and white Converse style trainers.

Det Con Mirian Khajavelidze said: “This was an unprovoked incident and this type of behaviour is never acceptable. We’re keen to speak to anyone who may be able to help us find the group to ensure they don’t target anyone else.”
