ASDA in Dunstable are sponsoring a young Olympic hopeful who this month broke a School Games record in the Olympic Stadium.

Sabrina Bakare beat competition from all over the country to win gold at the competition with a time of 38.43secs in the 300 metres.

The 16-year-old said: “I won it last year in Sheffield, but this year in the Olympic Stadium was just absolutely amazing.”

Sabrina, the national indoor 300 metre champion, spent a weekend packing bags for customers to raise money to fund training and competition entry fees.

She aims to compete in the 400 metres at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil. Sabrina said: “We’ve been stepping up to more intense training, trying to stay injury-free to get myself used to the longer runs. I work with Hollie Chapman, community life champion at Asda Dunstable, to find fun ways to raise money.”
