Great Global Greyhound Walk

Sunday (June 19) is a special day for greyhounds, lurchers and their owners who will be stepping out to take part in the seventh and newly renamed Great Global Greyhound Walk.

Hounds and humans across the world will be traversing parks, woods, beaches, heaths and the occasional stately home in places as far afield as Canada and New Zealand as well as Cornwall and Yorkshire.

Local organiser Sharon Gebhard said: “The walk begins at 10am and the meeting point is the Discovery Centre in Stockwood Park.

“The idea is to celebrate retired racing greyhounds and promote them as family pets.They make great companions, are gentle, docile and affectionate and walk really well on the lead.”
