It’s Happy Days for the beneficiary of a year of fundraising at the Sainsbury’s branch in Bury Park, Luton.
The store’s Local Charity of the Year partnership with Happy Days Children’s Charity came to the end in June with in excess of £5,000 being raised.
The year included various activities arranged by the store to raise not only funds for the charity but awareness of the work they do in the local community.
Store manager, Ian Shannon, said: “This last year has been a brilliant opportunity to be able to see the help that Happy Day’s provides families in the local community and do what we can as a store to support them. Both colleagues and customers have been so generous; we couldn’t have done it without them.”
On Friday, July 3, Happy Days received a final cheque for the charity, which will be providing selected families with being able to have a respite break.
A Happy Days spokesman said: “The support we’ve received over the year from Luton store has been incredible. The difference we have able to make for the children and their families has been life changing, all thanks to the customers and staff at Sainsbury’s Luton.”
The Local Charity scheme is now in its seventh year and has so far raised over £7 million to support local charities since 2009.
