Have you signed up for this year’s Race for Life?

Herald&Post reporter Bev Creagh has taken part in Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life for the past eight years.

She said: “It gave me a reason to live after my husband died of cancer.

“Suddenly there was something positive I could do in his memory, not only remembering him very specially on this particular day, but also because all the money raised goes into research.

“Now I wouldn’t miss it for the world. The atmosphere is amazing and seeing so many women – all with very personal and often poignant reasons for taking part – is awe-inspiring.”

This year Bev is dedicating her race to school friend Graeme Schreuder, who died of multiple myeloma in Australia last month. The same cancer killed Luton mum Donna Benjamin in March.

“Graeme was a doctor and knew exactly what lay ahead when he was diagnosed four years ago,” Bev said.

“He was such an amazing role model for his wife Kerry and their four children, as well as his friends around the world.

“None of us will ever forget his courage and his dignity.”
