A law graduate took part in his first marathon at Brighton on Sunday, April 12, raising hundreds for Macmillan.
James Niederman, 29, of Humberstone Road, decided to take on the 26 mile challenge and raise money for the charity that supported his nan when she had cancer.
He said: “My nan passed away just over a year ago after a long battle with cancer and the Macmillan nurses and support team were very good to her in her final few months.
“I want to give back to this charity, so that those who also find themselves in such unfortunate circumstances can have the fantastic help and support that Macmillan so greatly provide.”
He completed the marathon in just over four and a half hours, his current fundraising total is £1,990.
His sister, Claire Niederman, said: “It was a brilliant day, the sun was shining and there were thousands of people there.
“He did a great job and the family are very proud of him.”
