Help us find our good Samaritan

THE family of a keen fisherman who had a near-fatal heart attack at a popular angling spot are looking for the good Samaritan who alerted emergency services and almost certainly saved his life.

Retired Houghton Regis warehouseman Maurice Magnon, 66, of Kirton Way, is recovering in Harefield Hospital after his heart stopped three times.

His daughter, Sharon Housden, of Leighton Buzzard, said: “That particular day his usual fishing partner wasn’t feeling very well so Dad went to Rackley’s Hill Pit in Grovebury Road, Leighton Buzzard, on his own.

“He was as fit as a fiddle and always very active so we can’t understand what happened.

“He can’t remember anything, but we think someone down there fishing on Monday, September 26 must have found him unconscious about 9.30am.

“They did CPR and called the air ambulance. He had his mobile on him and they dialled the last number but my stepmum was at work.

“The first we knew was when we were contacted to get to the hospital. He was on life support for 10 days but he’s OK and slowly getting better.”

Now his extended family want to find the quick-thinking person who saved the grandfather-of-eight so that they can say a heartfelt thank you.
