Homeless to star in concert in aid of night shelter

A CONCERT with a difference is taking place at St Mary’s in Luton next month.

It will star the town’s homeless, appearing with cast members of Streetwise Opera – a charity formed to help people living rough – and will also feature a full brass band from the Salvation Army.

The joint production organised by NOAH, LAMP and Signposts is in aid of Luton’s night shelter which opens when temperatures drop below zero. This year the scheme has no council backing at all.

NOAH boss Jim O’Connor said: “The lack of funding is crippling. We’re going through very very difficult times.”

St Mary’s curate Rob O’Neill added: “We’re hoping for a capacity crowd - the church can hold 550.”

Tickets for the event on Thursday, December 15 are £5 each (£2.50 for concessions). They’re available from NOAH on 01582 728416 and St Mary’s on 01582 721867.
