Houghton Regis roadworks ‘nearly finished’

ROADWORKS causing huge traffic jams in Houghton Regis could be finished tonight (Thurs), a spokesperson for the National Grid has said.

Motorists have suffered hold-ups due to temporary traffic lights in Park Road North for several days during emergency gas main repairs.

The National Grid spokesperson said a leak on an old metal main had now been fixed, leaving only filling in and resurfacing to be completed.

Work was due to take until the end of the week, but the company said it was hopeful of finishing it sooner.

The spokesperson said: “We are mindful of the disruption, and we are working very hard towards having everything back to normal for tomorrow’s rush hour.”
