Inquest concludes man's death in Luton street on Christmas Day was 'accidental'

An inquest has concluded the death of a man found lying in the street on Christmas Day was accidental.

Monty Chitta, 53, of St Winifreds Avenue, Luton, was found dead in Cardigan Street on the morning of December 25 last year.

Mr Chitta had earlier been spotted in the flat above and is believed to have fallen through a top window.

Bedfordshire Police issued a press appeal after Mr Chitta's death in an attempt to trace those with him on the night of his death.

A postmortem concluded that he died of injuries consistent with a fall, and officers judged his death was non-suspicious after tracking his movements.

Today at Ampthill Coroner's Court, a conclusion of accidental death was reached.

Friends of Mr Chitta described him as a "lovely" man, who was "sociable and well-liked by everybody".
