Blond beauty and Pop Idol finalist Jo Birchall will give an exclusive performance of her charity single All About Love at The Red Lion in Luton tomorrow (August 22).

She’s part of Britain’s Biggest Pub Tour which is making its way round the country to raise money for Variety, the children’s charity.

It’s been organised by the Stonegate Pub Company which has its headquarters in Capability Green. Each of its 620 pubs and bars is taking part in the BBPT which has already made a whopping £170,00 in just 12 weeks of the 19 week round trip.

Head office staff have been in full charity fun mode all week with each department hosting its own fundraising event. They hope to raise more than £5,000 through a combination of sports days, quizzes, race nights and spinning challenges.

At 1.30pm tomorrow, the entire workforce will don charity T-shirts and fancy dress to join a carnival-style procession to The Red Lion in Castle Street. They’ll be accompanied by a specially adapted Variety Sunshine mini bus, as well as a vintage bubble car and Red Bull mini.

They’ll also be making a whistle stop visit to Yates on Park Street.

The party will continue at the Red Lion when former soap star Jo sings All About Love live at 4pm.

Stonegate chief executive Toby Smith said: “BBPT is our biggest ever charity fundraising initiative. We’re already well on the way to doubling our original target of £100,000. Now it’s Luton’s turn to take it on the next part of its journey.”
