HAVE you signed up for On Your Marks Luton yet?

Entries close on Friday (October 7) for this fantastic event, which will raise buckets of cash for the expansion of the L&D’s neo-natal intensive care unit (NICU).

On Your Marks Luton takes place at Vauxhall Recreation Centre on Sunday, October 16. It’s an event for the whole family, with a 10k race for serious runners, a 5k for those who want to take it a little easier, and a 2k for youngsters to join in with.

Herald&Post editor Lynn Hughes said: “It’s going to be a brilliant day for the whole family. The longer races take in part of the Luton Hoo estate, which will look beautiful in its autumn colours.

“It’s all about raising money for the L&D’s NICU unit, an extremely worthwhile cause. Every year the staff at the unit save the lives of hundreds of precious premature babies, who without this top-notch care would not survive.

“Everyone who joins in the race is helping raise money so that the unit can be expanded and save even more tiny lives every year.”

The event has been organised by Luton triathlon group Boxfit in partnership with the Herald&Post and the L&D.

Dave Coard from Boxfit said: “Entries close on Friday so anyone who wants a place needs to sign up quickly. We’ve got hundreds of runners raring to go so I know it’s going to be a great day for everyone.

“I’d like to say a big thank you to the businesses who’ve got involved and sponsored the event – Total Print, Briggs Roofing and Body Conscious Sports Massage Therapy, and Tri-Crazy.

“And big thanks have to go to Vauxhall Recreation Centre for hosting the event, it’s a great facility and we’re so grateful.”

Entries will close at 5pm on Friday, and runners will be able to pick up their numbers and timing chips from Vauxhall Recreation Centre on Saturday, October 15 from 10.30am until 12pm.

Dave said: “People can collect their numbers on the day of the race but it would be great if they could pop along to Vauxhall the day before to collect them, as that will mean fewer queues on Sunday morning.”
