Laci's swim hits the thousand mark for The Children's Trust

A nine-year-old girl has raised more than £1,000 for The Children's Trust during a one kilometre sponsored swim.

Laci Rogers, of Lewsey Farm, completed the challenge in 36 minutes at Dunstable Leisure Centre on Saturday morning.

She wanted to raise money for The Children’s Trust Centre in Tadworth to say thank you for the treatment and support they have given her friend, Jadaeleigh, pictured with Laci.

Lisa Rogers, Laci’s mum, said: “I am so proud of her, she only stopped twice to sip water. She wanted to do this for her friend and to say thank you to the centre, her friend was hit by a car and suffered severe brain injuries in September, she has been receiving ongoing treatment at the rehabilitation centre.

“We have watched her journey of recovery at The Trust and the work they do with children is incredible.

“Laci had lots of supporters, including Jadaeleigh, on the poolside cheering her on. She is an inspirational young girl.

“Thank you to everyone who has donated so far and to Dunstable Leisure Centre for letting us use their facilities.

Jadaeleigh’s mum, Caroline Morgan, said: “I am so proud of both the girls, it was an emotional day but watching them both is a real eye opener.

“They show how strong, kind and amazing children can be.”

The Children’s Trust helps children and their families affected by brain injuries.
