Lewis Hamilton to carry Olympic Torch in Luton

IT has just been confirmed that Formula One star Lewis Hamilton will carry the Olympic Torch through Luton.

The 27-year-old McLaren driver will be one of the torchbearers on the Luton to Dunstable leg of the torch relay on the morning of Monday, July 9.

The flame arrives in town on Sunday evening (July 8), starting its Luton leg at 6.12pm in London Road, at the entrance to Stockwood Park.

It will then make its way through town, ending up at Popes Meadow at 6.46pm where a celebration concert will take place, featuring rock group Young Guns and Britain’s Got Talent dance duo Twist and Pulse.

At the end of the two-hour show the last torchbearer of the day will light a celebration cauldron on stage.

The following morning, the flame will set off at 6.39am from St George’s Square and make its way to Dunstable.
