A Christmas Market is coming to Luton town centre for three days from Thursday, November 29, to kick off the town’s festive events.

Luton Business Improvement District (BID) is supporting Luton Council’s new Christmas Market in George Street with stalls selling festive gifts, food and drink.

Lighting Up Luton, sponsored by London Luton Airport Ltd, will be taking place on Saturday, December 1.

Luton in Harmony will be providing entertainment on the stage from 12noon and there will be special guest appearances from Peter Rabbit and Paddington from 2.30pm before appearing at the big light-up at 6.15pm.

Diane Quick, BID director and centre manager of The Galaxy Centre said: “The additional entertainment Luton BID organises at Christmas always results in crowds of smiling faces and we are sure that this year will be no different.

“Peter Rabbit and Paddington are popular TV characters and will create a real buzz at the lights switch-on so we are delighted to be able to continually support Luton Borough Council at this event.

“We are also thrilled to be involved in the new Christmas Market which will be sure to draw more visitors and shoppers into the town centre during the busy festive period.”

Luton BID have also organised Carol Singing on St George’s Square in front of the 30ft Christmas tree on Saturday, December 8, and Saturday, December 22.

There will also be the chance for children to meet Santa, Mrs Claus and the Christmas elves on Saturday, December 15, as they walk through the town centre with stilt walkers, jugglers and dancers from 11am till 4pm.
