Local people for local jobs at LETS

Hundreds of local jobs and training opportunities were up for grabs at Luton's busiest ever employment, training and skills (LETS) fair.

More than 1,300 people thronged the event to hear expert careers advice and guidance from 55 local businesses, education and training providers and recruitment agencies.

A range of workshops was available, including creating a CV, using social media, interview techniques and job applications.

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, particularly about how great it was to have multiple employers interested in hearing about prospective employee’s skills and employment needs.

Employers were also impressed by the calibre of local candidates.

The LETS Fair was supported by Luton Borough Council, Job Centre Plus, Community Interest Luton and other local organisations.

Portfolio holder for transformation and regeneration, Cllr Sian Timoney, said: “We are working really hard to attract new business to the town and the number of companies in attendance this year shows that Luton is becoming a fantastic place to work.

She added: “We are keen to repeat the success and deliver an even bigger and better event in September.”
