Luton cannabis dealer passed drug to co-defendant while in the dock on drugs charges!

Five Luton men have been sentenced for conspiracy to supply cannabis.

Darrell Cox, 26, of Orchid Close, was sentenced to a total of two years and four months, for conspiracy to supply cannabis, possession of a stun gun, and possession with intent to supply cannabis - after he attempted to pass cannabis to a co-defendant while in the dock.

Ronnie O’Donnell, 26 , from Denham Close, was sentenced to two years imprisonment, Jake Renton, 25, of Copenhagen Close, received a two year four month sentence, and Paul Butler, 26, of Pottery Close, was sentenced to 13 months.

Jason Lake, 24, of Arrow Close, received a 18 week sentence suspended for 18 months and has also been placed on a curfew.

The five were part of an organised crime group operating in Luton. O’Donnell and Renton were arrested after more than half a kilo was found in the loft of a property in Luton when police carried out a warrant.

A phone was also recovered which led police to the other members of the group and a second property, where more cannabis along with £2,000 in cash, deal bags, scales, and a Taser disguised as an iPhone.

The investigation was carried out by the Bedfordshire Police Boson team, which is dedicated to tackling gangs and guns in Luton. Boson Detective Sergeant Mark Pugh said: “This was a complex investigation but our perseverance has led to the dismantling of a drugs supply group in Luton and we’re pleased that these five have been convicted

“Drugs have no place in our community and we are committed to tackling organised criminals to reduce the circulation of these dangerous substances. .

“We cannot over-exaggerate the damage that drugs have on people’s lives; causing addiction, illness, financial ruin, and even death, and I’d urge anyone who has information about the supply of drugs in their community to get in touch with us so we can apprehend those responsible.”
