There’s the highly anticipated Hoo’s Kid Fest Summer Day on Saturday, August 31 from 10.30am to 1.30pm.

Author David Litchfield will be reading from his book The Bear and the Piano and children can join in by making masks and singing bear songs.

Guy Bass will be entertaining youngsters with humorous horror stories from his Stitch Head books. Nigel Baines will be drawing live and Lou Treleaven will demonstrate how to make a crazy car.

There’s a two metre-long view of British history by Christopher Lloyd and if you bring a hat, you can help Professor Panga Manga create poems in the Poetry Cart.

Prior to the For starters there are children’s workshops on Thursday mornings in two groups – four to six-year-olds and seven to 10-year-olds. Subjects range from herbs and flowers to insects and vegetables and seeds.

The cost is £10 a session (refreshments included) and keen young gardeners must be accompanied by an adult.

Places are limited and must be pre-booked by calling 01582 721443 or emailing [email protected]
