Man from Luton charged in Natalia Doherty murder probe

A man has been charged in the cold case probe into the death of a mum who vanished in 2003.

Daniel Doherty, 67, of Icknield Way, Luton, has been charged with preventing a lawful burial, obstructing a coroner in the execution of his duty and perverting the course of justice.

The charges relate to the discovery of 50-year-old Natalia Doherty’s remains in a garden in December 2015.

The last confirmed sighting of mum-of-three Natalia, who also went by the surname Wilkanowska, was in April 2003 as she prepared to visit her extranged husband in Luton.

The investigation into Natalia’s disappearance has been carried out by the Beds, Cambs and Herts major crime unit.

Daniel Doherty will appear before Luton Magistrates’ Court on May 26.
