Dunstable Market came alive on Saturday with the first “Party in the Market” theme, celebrating the 90th year of Her Majesty the Queen.
Councillor Carole Hegley, Chairman of the Dunstable Joint Committee commented “What a great start to what we hope will be some regular Party in the Market themed events on the first Saturday in the month.
“Ideas like Crafts, Ladies Days, Mother and Baby, Sport, Food & Drink are being mentioned so far.
“Everyone has been pulling together to put energy into the Market, add atmosphere, new stalls and fun for the children – we were delighted to welcome the new Mayor Cllr Peter Hollick and his Mayoress Cllr Ann Sparrow, as well as some fun characters like Mini Mouse and Royal cut outs.
“The Market was full of flags, balloons, sweets, music and of course Tea Cups on the Square for children.
“When talking to residents we explained the ideas and ambitions to encourage more residents to the town, especially on the first Saturdays of the month for the Special Saturday and Special Market events.
“Thanks to Dunstable Town Council staff and councillors together with CBC councillors, local volunteers, charity groups, stall holders for their help and positive spirit to make the day a fun experience in the town, and for the residents and children who came along to make it all worthwhile!!
“There will be proposals going to the Joint Committee in June to do more events to stimulate interest and trade in the town.
“I’d love to hear what you thought if you were in the market on Saturday email@example.com”
