MonolgueSlam powers into Luton theatre
Luton Library Theatre didn't know what hit it when MonologueSlam Luton powered into town.
A masterclass of 19 talented youngsters took to the stage in an inaugural show hosted by Chizzy Akudolu, aka Holby City’s Mo Affanga.
There were three categories - one for 11-18-year-olds, plus a one-minute and three-minute monologue for adults.
Sonia Chowdhury won the youth round with her self-penned monolgue Charlie.2 while Carl Connolly received a special mention from the judges for his performance of Unbearable Hotness by Gabriel David.
Marcia Burke took home the one-minute trophy with Taking Care of Baby by Dennis Kelly and Addie Akinrinade won not only the three-minute trophy but was also adjudged Overall Winner for Goodbye Charles by Gabriel Davis.
MonologueSlam UK is regarded as THE industry showcase for actors from all backgrounds. It gives them an opportunity to perform before an audience to a panel of people in a position to move their careers forward.
