Motorists warned of weekend slip-road closures on M1 in Bedfordshire

ROAD users are being advised that slip-roads on the M1 will be closed over two weekends for gas mains works.

Slip-roads at Junction 12 in Toddington will be closed from 6am Saturday August 20 - 5am on Monday August 22, and from 6am Saturday September 3 - 5am on Monday September 5.

The August Bank Holiday weekend will not be affected.

Highways Agency project sponsor Lynne Stinson said: “These slip-road closures are required for works being carried out by National Grid Gas to safely replace a gas main which crosses the slip-roads where they join the A5120. The work is being carried out over the weekend when traffic flows are lower to limit delays to drivers.

“We have worked with National Grid to minimise the impact and duration of the closures on road users and the local community. We do not expect a significant impact on traffic, however we would advise road users to plan their journeys, allow extra time and follow the clearly signed diversion routes.”

During the closures, northbound traffic will be directed along the M1 northbound to Junction 13, and back on the southbound carriageway to exit the M1 on the J12 southbound exit slip-road.

Southbound traffic wishing to join the M1 at Junction 12 will be signposted northbound to Junction 13, and back onto the M1 southbound.
