MP appointed as prisons minister
Andrew Selous, Member of Parliament for South West Bedfordshire, has been appointed as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Justice, with special responsibility for HM Prison and Probation Service.
The appointment was announced today.
Mr Selous said: “I am very pleased and honoured to be given this appointment by the Prime Minister and look forward to working in the Ministry of Justice as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State. I will have responsibility for the Prison and Probation Service and other areas relating to the work carried out by the Ministry of Justice”.

Hide AdThe 52 year old is married with three girls and has been MP for South West Beds since 2001.
Previously he was Parliamentary Private Secretary to Iain Duncan Smith MP, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions.
He was a Territorial Army officer for twelve years and qualified as a chartered insurer, working as a reinsurance underwriter before being elected to Parliament.
