Mum lambasts cops over assault

Pauline Kaye of Kingsland Close said: “They’re just a load of rubbish.

“My nine-year-old son was balancing on the railings in the park when he fell off and hurt himself quite badly.

“A man walking past with his Staffi dog started laughing so he swore at him.

“The man then picked up my 11-year-old son, who’s disabled, and lifted him off the ground by the scruff of his neck. And he started taking pictures of my children for no apparent reason.

“My boys came home shaking and crying and I phoned the police immediately.”

Mrs Kaye said she was told that as the youngsters were safe at home, someone would come to take a statement later.

“If they’d come immediately, they might have caught the man,” she complained.

A police spokeswoman said: “The children were at home and not at risk when we were called.

“Our policy is that unless someone is in danger, or a crime is actually happening, we will get to people as soon as possible through an appointment service.

“We understand the child called the offender ‘a c***.

“The offender is described as a 40-year-old white male, 5ft 7in tall, wearing a green jacket and dark trousers.
