New chapter at local libraries

A CONSULTATION period during which the public can have their say on the future of libraries in the Dunstable area draws to an end next month.

Launched in October, the Future of Libraries review aims to ensure services adapt and grow in line with the needs of future generations in mind.

Anyone wishing to voice their views and ensure libraries are fit for the 21st century has until January 18 to respond.

Councillor Ian Darlgano met Flitwick Library users and discussed with residents their views on the current services on offer.

He said: “We want to assure residents that the council is not intending to close libraries.

“The aim of the Future of Libraries consultation is to help improve the services which local libraries currently offer, making them modern and even more accessible to the local community.

“We need to find ways to save money and continue to deliver – and improve – a service that meets local needs and the needs of future generations.”

People can share their views by completing the online survey at www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/consultations or by collecting a hard copy from local libraries throughout Central Beds.
