New FUN centre opened by Duke

And their endeavours were rewarded with the recent opening of its fully equipped activity centre by the Duke of Bedford, Andrew Ian Henry Russell.

The charity – which supports children and families living with disabilities – was also delighted to welcome the Bishop of Bedford, the Rt Rev Richard Atkinson, and Luton mayor Cllr Tahir Khan to the inaugural celebration.

Spokeswoman Diane Rhodes said: “We are immensely proud of what we have accomplished over the last year.

“The day was a great success and it was wonderful to see our children and families interacting with local funders and supporters, who have helped make the activity centre a reality.”

The building is now fully equipped with disabled access – doors have been widened for wheelchair access and overhead hoists have been installed.

It has smaller rooms for music, sensory play and tables games as well as a large hall with ball pond, soft and other themed play areas.

FUN started in 1997 when a small group of families got together to help and support each other. It was registered as a charity in 2002.

It is keen to recruit sponsors - businesses or individuals – to support its work.
