Chantry Primary Academy received a cheque for £500 from Nisa Local to help with the running costs of its minibus.
The St Dominic’s Square convenience store donated the money from its Making A Difference Locally (MADL) fund.
MADL is a charity that was launched by Nisa to help independent retailers donate money to their communities. The money is raised through the sale of specific products by retailers in their stores.
Scott Jell, store manager, said: “We donated the money to help with the running of the schools minibus which is an important resource for the pupils.
“We know how hard it can be to find the funds to run the minibus, this is our way of helping one of our local schools.”
Headteacher Cori Bateman said: “We were delighted at the news that Nisa have sponsored the running costs of the minibus.
“They are a fantastic resource but very expensive to keep on the road.
“This donation will allow us to continue to provide exciting opportunities such as local trips to Dell Farm and clubs such as the one run for our pupils at Salto Gymnastics. Thank you Nisa.”
