But due to the pandemic, organisers Walk the Walk have decided to create the first Virtual MoonWalk London experience.

Nicky Hedley, whose idea it was to form the Silsoe Calendar Girls team - which has signed up to walk 26.2 miles - said: “Back in 2012 I was in a community drama production of Calendar Girls in Silsoe.

"It was an amazing show and all the profits went to cancer charities. We were hugely moved by the experience and, in reflecting on the show, the girls and I wanted to carry on fundraising. I hit on the idea of doing The MoonWalk London as a team, having taken part before with my sisters, and call ourselves Silsoe Calendar Girls.

"We have been doing the walk every year since often with friends. I’m proud to say, we have raised a lot of money for Walk the Walk and vital breast cancer causes.

"This year will be very different as it’s a virtual event, but we wanted to try and help out so have been pounding the pavements training locally and busy making our costumes. This year the theme is Out of this World and our costume will be very eye catching as always."
