More than 70 players will come to Dunstable for a series of special football matches in aid of men’s mental health charity.

Creasey Park Community Football Centre will host the weekend of football on June 6 and 7 when male and female players take part in two 11-a-side matches, which will begin at 12noon on both days.

There will be family-friendly activities, guest speaker talks, and raffles, with all money raised going to Andy’s Man Club.

The charity provides confidential spaces for men to speak openly about their struggles and works to break the stigma around the men’s mental health challenges.

Superdrug driver trainer, Jack Wing, organised the event after seeing first-hand the impact mental health struggles can have.

Jack said: “Having experienced my own struggles with mental health during my time in the army, I know how important it is for men to feel able to speak openly and access support.

“That is why partnering with Andy’s Man Club for this event means so much to me. Football has a brilliant way of bringing people together, and we hope this weekend will not only raise vital funds but also help more people feel comfortable having honest conversations about mental health.”

Beds FA and Dunstable Town FC have supported the event by letting the charity use the facilities

The Samaritans and the Man Cave UK will be also be there on the day to give talks around mental health.

Amy Davies, people director at Superdrug, said: “Supporting mental health awareness is incredibly important to us at Superdrug, and we are proud to be involved in this community event at Creasey Park.

“By bringing people together through football, family activities and shared experiences, the weekend will help raise vital funds for Andy’s Man Club while encouraging more open and honest conversations around mental health.”
