LAMP, a charity that supports young homeless people, is encouraging people to join the annual sponsored sleep out at St Albans Abbey on Friday, December 4.

The sleep out raises awareness of homelessness and raises funds for several local homelessness charities.

Last year over 500 people of all ages took part in the charity’s biggest fundraising event of the year.

Helen Snowden, LAMP’s fundraising officer, said: “The event is well organised with everyone taking place given a security band, everyone taking part sleeps within the railings around the Abbey and there is security on all entrances and exits.

“The Abbey opens its cafe all night, providing free soup and hot drinks and access to toilets.”
