Luton Airport expansion meeting postponed to find bigger venue after ‘high levels of interest’
An information meeting about proposals to expand Luton Airport has been postponed to allow organisers to secure a more suitable venue, due to ‘high levels of interest.’
The Let’s Talk on Luton Airport event was aimed at residents living in the east of the town, and was due to be held at Wigmore Primary School on Twyford Drive on the evening of Thursday, February 5.

The event is being organised by Luton Council, in conjunction with Luton Rising and the Luton Social Justice Unit, and was billed as ‘a community update on our long-term airport expansion proposals, and the chance to put any questions to our team.’
Luton Council said: "Due to the high level of interest in this event, we’ve decided to postpone the session while we secure a more suitable venue.
"This will help us deliver the event more effectively and ensure as many people as possible have the opportunity to take part and ask our team questions."
A Luton Council spokesperson told the Luton News they were looking for ‘a bigger venue that is more centrally-located within the town’, ideally with microphone facilities.
They added that ‘more people than expected had responded’ and that the authority had received around 60 expressions of interest in attending the meeting.
