Luton drummer features on Sheila E.'s remake of a Christmas classic

A 10-year-old drummer from Luton who was recently praised by American percussionist Sheila E has been invited to feature on her latest remake of a Christmas classic.

In October, Geneva London, who has been playing the drums since her seventh birthday, was invited onto Steve Harvey's US show - Steve on Watch - after he saw her playing the drums online.

The American TV host surprised her by giving her the opportunity to meet one of her drumming inspirations Sheila E.

After the show Sheila E invited Geneva to feature on her latest remake of the Christmas classic 'Little Drummer Boy' called 'Little Drummer Girlz' with the Luton drummer, Chitaa from Japan and a Sarah Thawer from Canada.

The 10-year-old was over the moon to record drums with Sheila E, she said: "I loved it! Auntie Sheila is a legend and a huge inspiration to me because she is creative and has so much style on the drums and off the drums.

"I was so happy to be part of this and watch us all play together."

Sheila E. also surprised Geneva with a years subscription to Masterclass where she could have free access to Sheila E's Masterclass series.

MasterClass offers online classes created for students of all skill levels, Sheila E. teaches drumming and percussion.

When Geneva's mum, Keysha, told her the news, she said: "I just want to say thank you auntie Sheila, I really, really can't wait to learn more from this. I will use this every single day, this is absolutely amazing.

"I'm gobsmacked, this is amazing."
