Luton named as one of the top London commuter hotspots

The London Commuter Guide was created by Yopa, the full-service estate agent, to help Londoners - who are thinking about moving out of the capital - identify the most affordable and accessible places to buy a home, without having to sacrifice their jobs or salaries.

Luton was fourth on the list, behind St Albans, Redhill in Surrey and Reading in Berkshire.

Some of the other reasons for making the top five included season ticket prices, train times into London - the commute from Luton to London St Pancras is 23 minutes - average house prices and local crime rates.

The London Commuter Guide was created by Yopa to help Londoners who are considering moving out of town to identify the most affordable and accessible places to buy a home, without having to sacrifice their jobs and salaries.

Cllr Sian Timoney, deputy leader of Luton Council, said “We are delighted that Luton has been highlighted as one of the best locations to live for those wishing to commute in to London.

"The town has so much going for it and we are pleased that an increasingly wide audience recognises, among other things, its excellent location, affordable house prices, growing economy, burgeoning arts and culture scene together with its excellent schools and commitment to training and skill provision for the local population.

"The council and its partners have seen many businesses, investors and individuals moving into Luton in recent years, eager to benefit from and contribute towards life in our great town.

"With our determination to tackle poverty and improve opportunities for all residents we are confident Luton will continue to be an attractive location in which to live.”

Analysis of a number of other economic and quality of life metrics, including proximity to outstanding schools, number of trains per day and average local salaries, have been used to determine the best places to live for those who wish to enjoy the benefits of the Home Counties whilst retaining their London lifestyle.
