Luton United Football Club, who use the facilities at Blundell Park, have successfully negotiated with Luton Council in acquiring the lease of the clubhouse/changing rooms at the site, off Blundell Road.

The club has created a Go Fund Me page to raise £2,000 in order to secure the lease.

Adam Burgess, club secretary, said: "This will allow the club sole use of facilities at Blundell Park for all our teams and ultimately create a community hub for all our members.

"The fundraising is going okay but we need to raise more awareness of what we are doing.

"Most of the money that has been donated has come from the coaches and parents.

"We have bee in the area for 20 years, we serve the community, it is a hard to reach community but we have seen lots of people join the team.

"To secure the lease and complete the process we must contribute £2,000 towards the legal costs, maintenance, utility bills and insurance.

"We must now give an undertaking in the next couple of weeks to pay this sum, otherwise, we may risk losing the facility.

"We will get a lease for 25 years for that changing room, they are not in great shape at the moment and we will refurbish them and make them something that this community can be proud of.

"The money raised will go to the council's legal costs, and then what's left will be used to refurbish the changing rooms. In the future we hope to completely rebuild them.
