Miracle moggie Trudie is the cat with 9 lives after being struck by bus in Luton

Loveable moggie Trudie was left battling severe injuries as two women rescued her from the roadside following the collision on March 14.

Despite being treated by the kindness of strangers, the cat’s natural instincts kicked in and she fled the scene - not being spotted again until March 30.

It was not a moment too soon for the exhausted feline, who was rushed to the vet in a severely weakened state.

Now, she is in the loving hands of RSPCA Southgate and an online fundraiser has reached its £2,000 goal for her ongoing treatment.

RSPCA volunteer Katie Duncan revealed Trudie was named after St Gertrude, patron saint of cats, whose saint’s day on March 17 was just three days after the crash.

Katie said: “With each day, the chances of finding her alive and well were getting slimmer and slimmer, so it’s an understatement to say we were shocked to receive a call that led us to her.

“Sadly, she lost her left eye as a result of the accident and the vets have had to wire her lower jaw and tube feed her.

“We think she wouldn’t have been able to eat for much of those 16 days due to the jaw injuries, but she’s still at the vets and they say she’s doing well and is a very sweet little darling.

“It really is a miracle that she survived and equally a miracle that she made her way to the yard of the garage she did.

“We’d spoken to the owner of the business and he was very happy to help out where he could, and look out for her.

“He had let us park in his yard, which was a great help in a busy area with limited parking, and so it was strange that there were no sightings of her at all and then she wandered in there.”
