NHS heroes salute Luton drummer boy Taylor, 11, after weeks of claps for carers

A Luton drummer boy who gave out the loudest applause every Thursday for our NHS workers was thrilled with a surprise visit yesterday.

Doctors and nurses from Luton & Dunstable Hospital came to surprise Taylor Tappin, 11, for one final Thursday clap.

Taylor, who has autism, is a talented drummer and takes classes after school as a creative release.

His proud mum Donna said: "Taylor was absolutely devastated when the Thursday clapping stopped.

"All he wanted to do was make NHS workers happy and to keep them smiling.

"So, my friend who is a sister at the L&D Hospital asked doctors and nurses to come to our house last night to thank Taylor as they said he was their hero.

"He put on one hell of a performance!"
