"This includes the Irish comedy drama in Luton Library Theatre on March 14, our involvement with the pre-parade mass, the parade, Market Hill stage, The Mall stage, The Hat Factory stage, and the Irish market and family area on March 15; and also the St Patrick's Day celebration in the Celtic Club on March 17.

"Following a statement by the British and Irish Prime Ministers relating to the COVID19/coronavirus and outlining restrictions, a number of artists and both parade and market participants have become concerned and withdrawn, which has had a huge impact on our programme.

"This, added to our concerns for the health and wellbeing of the whole community meant we had no option but to take the difficult decision to cancel the festival.

"Luton St Patrick's Festival plays an important part in our cultural calendar and we are sorry for the disappointment many people will feel on missing this popular annual event.
