The latest data shows 797 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the UK, with 10 recorded deaths.

Luton & Dunstable Hospital confirmed yesterday two people were self-isolating after testing positive for coronavirus, before news of a third diagnosis in Luton today.

Neighbouring Central Beds Council has no confirmed cases yet, although a GP surgery in Leighton Buzzard closed yesterday for a deep clean (see here) after a patient showed symptoms.

A school pupil at Lancot Challenger Academy in Dunstable is also self-isolating after their sibling showed suspicious symptoms. It is understood the sibling is being tested to see if they have the illness.

NHS advise the following to avoid catching or spreading coronavirus:

> Wash your hands with soap and water often and for at least 20 seconds.

> Always wash your hands when you get home or into work.

> Use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.

> Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze.

> Put used tissues in the bin straight away and wash your hands afterwards.

> Try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell

> Don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean.
